Canadian Transplant Association
The mission of the Canadian Transplant Association is to motivate transplant recipients to maintain a healthy lifestyle by supporting athletic, educational and other activities. As the driving force behind the Canadian Transplant Games (and World Transplant Games on behalf of Canada), the organization also highlights how organ donation transforms the lives of recipients, their families and communities.
The association has also been instrumental in the success of awareness campaigns including Green Shirt Day. That annual event honours the victims of the fatal crash of the Humboldt Broncos team bus, including Logan Boulet, who inspired hundreds of thousands of Canadians to register as organ donors and share their wishes with their families.
This year marks the association’s 35th anniversary. Brenda Brown, the association’s president, received the award on the association’s behalf. As a kidney recipient herself, its work has deep personal meaning for her.
