Every donation matters following the nationwide Rogers outage
Canadian Blood Services was one of many organizations affected by the recent nationwide Rogers outage.
Several platforms, including blood.ca and the GiveBlood App were unavailable from the morning of Friday, July 8 to Saturday, July 9. The daylong outage affected wireless, cable and internet services across the country.
During the outage, we experienced a loss in appointments, reducing the number of donations we collected. The summer months are difficult for us to fill, so this loss in appointments is concerning. The need for blood is greater than ever right now, and we need your help to make sure patients have the lifesaving products they need.
If you missed your appointment because of the outage, or need to book your next one, please visit blood.ca or book via the Give Blood App.
For everyone who had appointments and showed up to donate during the outage, thank you for your patience and continued support of Canada’s Lifeline.
