Carol’s CUREsader’s Partners for Life Team is making all the difference in the lives of others…
Liane Woodley’s efforts to encourage more people to join Canada’s Lifeline started in honour of her sister, Carol, after she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Carol was the most kind and loving person and all who knew her would say that she lit up the room whenever she walked in. Sadly, Carol lost her battle to this aggressive blood cancer in 2021.
While receiving one of many blood products she said to Liane, “I am so grateful that people have donated blood, I am so lucky”. She then asked Liane to “please tell people when they ask how they can help, to donate blood!”
To honour her sister’s wish, Liane created the Carols CUREsaders Partners for Life team. Carol’s CUREsaders team has 74 registered active team members and they donate as a group in Belleville bringing in 20 to 30 donors, four times a year. The team has successfully collected 150 units of blood, surpassing and Liane’s goal of 100 units in 2024.
Liane is also very passionate about increasing the number of stem cell registrants in Canada and has setup many Campaign in a Box campaigns at local high schools in the Belleville community. Over the course of her 38-year career in education, Liane has served at four different high schools as a teacher, vice principal, and principal. And in every one of those schools she has coached both girls’ and boys’ basketball teams. As an advocate for Canada’s Lifeline Liane is truly a champion!
