My son was born with multiple heart defects and required life-saving open heart surgery at 7 weeks of age. He required a blood transfusion, which contributed to saving his life, so I always intended to give back and donate myself. I did not realize how quick and easy the process is or I would have made the time to donate long ago. Armed with the information that one donation can save up to 3 lives, I have now marked in the calendar the next date I'm eligible to make another donation.
