Christine was a beautiful and caring daughter, mother, Oma, and high school sweetheart of David with whom she shared 45 years of marriage. She graduated from University of Toronto in 1978 and embarked on a career as a physiotherapist and healthcare administrator at Windsor Regional Hospital where she provided patient care and administrative leadership for over 30 years.
Christine loved gardening, hiking or any activity that took her outdoors, and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, Scotland, Ireland, and the southwestern United States. Although she traveled extensively outside Canada, she loved and appreciated the beauty of our great country from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Tofino, British Columbia. Christine was first and foremost a caregiver in both her professional and personal life. Her kindness and optimistic approach to life were appreciated by her patients and her friends and family.
In May 2023, Christine was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. Over the next several weeks, she received multiple transfusions of blood and platelets, at first every other day and then daily as her illness progressed. Despite her determination and the efforts of the healthcare team, her leukemia progressed, and she died on July 14, 2023.
Had Christine’s disease been more sensitive to treatment, the transfusions that she received would have kept her alive long enough to receive a potentially life-saving bone marrow transplant. Christine was an inspiration to all who knew her. By donating blood, we honor her memory and allow her to continue caring for others even after her passing.
