Riley Mackay
Riley Mackay is a regular plasma donor with a remarkable number of donations under his belt given his relatively young age and his hectic schedule as a university student.
Riley is also the president of the University of Prince Edward Island Blood Club; the only organization of its kind in Atlantic Canada. The club recruits students to donate and encourages participation with friendly competition between campus clubs. Since both of Riley’s parents work in healthcare, he understands the difference blood donations make. This awareness inspires him to keep coming up with new strategies for recruiting blood donors on campus and beyond.
“It’s all about empathy, says Riley. “If your parent, sibling, child or friend was in urgent need of blood products, you wouldn’t hesitate to roll up your sleeve.”
