When Kyle found out he was a match for a patient in need of stem cells in 2017, he had a lot on his plate: he had just started a new job ... and had recently become a new dad!

But despite his busy life with much on the go, Kyle gave of his time — and, quite literally, his bone marrow. Within approximately 45 days of receiving the call, he underwent the procedure to donate his lifesaving stem cells to a total stranger.

“Truly, it is a small inconvenience for a lifetime of possibilities,” says Kyle of his reason to join Canada’s national stem cell registry and donate his stem cells.

An avid cyclist who bikes year-round (even in Canadian winters), Kyle continues to educate more people about the stem cell registry and transplantation. In addition to telling his story, he likes to share that his father once received an autologous transplant. “That particular cancer he was treated for is still gone from his body,” he says.
