When Brad isn’t putting out fires, he’s putting out the word about blood donation — and has consequently inspired hundreds of his colleagues to join Canada’s Lifeline.
As part of the Hamilton Professional Fire Fighters Association (Local 288) and chair of the HPFFA Charity & Community Support Committee, Brad has had a significant impact on his local donor community. Since 2016, he has encouraged first responders to get involved with donation events like Sirens for Life — and inspired nearly 500 units of blood in just three years.
“As first responders, we have an opportunity to be a leader in the community by giving back to those who need it most,” says Brad. “It’s our responsibility to not only perform on the job but to help make a difference when not on shift.” Brad is also a blood donor himself.
A relationship-builder with many key contacts, Brad has also frequently invited Canadian Blood Services to join Local 288 at community events to draw in potential donors.
