Stephen Zaluski
Stephen has always believed in service to others and in giving back. His decision to become someone’s anonymous kidney donor through the Kidney Paired Donation program was an ideal way to act on those convictions. He was inspired by a friend who donated a kidney to her father; however, at the heart of Stephen’s decision was the question, “If not me, then who?”
A constitutional lawyer for the federal Department of Justice, Stephen has held positions specializing in judicial affairs, human rights, national unity and elections law. He has served as counsel in the Privy Council Office and the Deputy Minister’s Office, and has led international development projects. Yet despite these rich professional opportunities, after his donation, Stephen described the experience as one of the most life-affirming things he has ever done.
