James' journey

James was born in January 2021. At 9 days old, after an emergent event, he was flown to BC Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed with a CHD. After multiple admissions in his first 6 months of life, he suffered 2 cardiac arrests. He was transferred to Stollery Hospital in Edmonton where he was put on life support. Over the next 6 months he got stronger and waited in hospital on a Berlin Heart pumping his left ventricle. Five days after his first birthday, James recieved his new chance at life, a new heart. Over the next 2 years, James has unfortunately suffered rejection and he is currently relisted for another transplant. He gets to wait at home with his family in Peachland while going to BCCH monthly to keep a close eye on his special heart. Our family is forever grateful for donors. Both blood and organ donation has saved James life many times, and will continue to do so as he goes through this next stage of his journey.
