Be Positive Sisters

Every year I attend a wonderful event in Goderich, Ontario in the week preceding the annual Goderich Celtic Roots Festival. People from all over, gather for instruction in all things Celtic - fiddle, guitar, whistle, song, banjo, mandolin, crafts at Celtic College. There are a number of us who have attended for many years. It is always interesting to run into folks after a year apart and learn what has happened in their lives and ours. Obviously, there are births, deaths, sicknesses and all kinds of life events to report on.

Last year, Eleanor attended the Celtic College - despite looking desperately ill. She was in the midst of her second battle with cancer. She had announced to her doctor that her biggest wish was to attend the College, come hell or high water. She told me that on the Thursday before she left for Goderich, she had been given a blood transfusion to give her a boost. I asked what her blood type was, and she said B Pos. Well isn't that neat, I said. I donated B Pos blood on Tuesday. Wouldn't it be neat if my blood came to you? It was a great thought, and indeed became a bit of a theme for the week. This year, when we met again (she looks amazing and is doing well), we teared up, remembering our blood connection last year.
